Résumé

It is easy to note numerous achievements of European integration throughout the last 50 years. The EU policies have stimulated growth and welfare. The integration process has advanced from economic pillars (freedom of movement, common market, monetary union) towards political and social scopes. Nevertheless, there is too much separation between citizens and institutions; and there are pending solutions for some of the most important questions concerning the future of Europe (i. e., the old dilemma between deeper versus wider integration). Still recognizing its achievements, the EU needs better specifi c and global results to continue advancing in the coming years.
