Abstract
The main aim of the present study was to study attentional capacity and reaction times in schizophrenic subjects.Two groups of subjects were selected. Control group was composed by 15 subjects without any mental health disorders, with an aged range between 27 and 44 years old, and the experimental group that was composed by 30 patients diagnosticated of schizophrenia according to DSM-III-R diagnostic criteria. After designing the procedure named "Pattern Perception Test" (PPP), the results obtained showed both an important attentional deficit and errors in the reaction times in schizophrenics, with an level of significance of p < 0.05, assessed through the "Pattern Perception Test" (PPP). Both, clinical and forensic implications are presented at the present paper.
