Abstract

Educational Theory has to face the challenge of recovering for many teachers the value of education, within a cultural frame that could be deemed as a hindrance to education. The nihilistic and trivial «counterculture», delivered often from the school itself, represents an important obstacle for every educational task, always related to giving sense-references. Pedagogy will have a role nowadays only if it is able, according to its Socratic tradition, to recover the cultural prestige of knowledge, which is not anything different to the prestige of reason as capable of truth.
