The Statutory Law for the Effective Equality of Women and Men (Ley Orgánica 3/2007 para la Igualdad Efectiva de Mujeres y Hombres) and for the Integrated Protection of Women against Gender Domestic Violence (Ley Orgánica 1/2004 de Medidas de Protección Integral contra la Violencia de Género) constitute the first important step in the general process of incorporation into Spanish Law of a series of collective affirmative action measures in favour of women.
