Zusammenfassung
In examples like Ich will nach Hause or Wohin musst du? a modal verb without infinitive but with a directional complement is to be found. They are mostly explained as defective uses of modal verbs. This study attempts to give a new explanation to this structure as an alternative structure of the modal verbs. In this small corpus analysis especially materials from German as a foreign language were taken into account, because this explanation is adequate to the language teaching and learning.
