Abstract

The study outlines that in spite of what is frequently sustained in the most important manuscripts of the Digest there does not exist degeneration in the inscriptions as suffered by some medieval codes of minor transcendence. In those, no process of mutilation in the inscription is observed. The study of the characteristics seen in the majority of the manuscripts used by Mommsen for the preparation of his editions proves that they contain the complete inscriptions. In general terms, it is no exaggeration to affirm that a very high percentage of the most transcendental manuscripts of the Digest do not present serious problems in the inscriptions.
