We use an extension of the generalized jackknifed approach of Gray and Shucany (1972) to obtain new nonparametric estimators for the number S of species in a ecosytem of size N known. If N is unknown it shows an estimator. A limit law is rigurously proved for it and an estimator is proposed vía the asymptotic distribution. This estimator is just used to estímate N and can be applied later to the estimators for S. The performance of the estimators is investigated by means of Monte Carlo experiments.
