Abstract

Daily quantitative and qualitative counts have been performed on the atmospheric pollen collected by a volumetric trap installed in the Campus of the University of Madrid during the years 1980 and 1981. The more frequent taxa proved to be: Artemisia sp., Betula celtiberica Rothm. & V a s c , Chenopodium sp., Cupressaceae, Ericaceae, Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl., Gramineae, Olea europaea L., Philadelphus coronarius L., Pinaceae, Plantago sp., Platanus sp., Populus sp.,Quercus rotundifolia Lam., Quercus pyrenaica Willd., Rumex sp., Ulmus sp. and Urticaceae. Their seasonal variability, and the annual graphs of total pollen grains per cubic meter of air, as well as a morphologic description of each taxon, illustrated with palinograms and microphotographs, are presented. A pollen calendar has also been prepared.
