Abstract
Vapor-phase chromatographic pattems obtained from the distilled essential oil of several Saturejae from Spain are discussed. We have grouped these plants according to the percentage of monoterpens/sesquiterpens, and phenols, thymol and carvacrol, into: 1. Satureja montana L., Satureja hortensis L., Satureja salzmanii P. W. Ball and Satureja innota (Pau) G. López. 2. Satureja cuneifolia Ten. subsp. obovata (Lag.) G. López, Satureja cuneifolia Ten. subsp. gracilis (Willk.) G. López.
