Abstract

In recent years we see a new approach on the study and treatment of some mental disorders, based on the mechanisms of wellness, and potentiation of positive emotions, instead of direct interventions on illness. The authors, working with this approach in a Psychosocial Rehabilitation program for people with severe and chronic disorders, use a experimental design to evaluate the effectivity of a intervention program to increase positive emotions. Although the results are inconclusive, there is a clear tendency to increasing of positive emotions in the participants, that suggests that this kind of interventions can be useful in this population. The article exposes as well some methodological and clinical conclusions and future directions
