Resum
The main arguments of those who defend the decline of Petra after the 2nd century are the annexation of the Kingdom of Nabataea by the Roman Empire, and the change of the capital to Bostra. Its importance until at least the VII century, when it falls under the muslim power, is attested by the Roman Itineraria where Petra is present. The many bishops and churches in the Bizantine period also prove its importance
