Abstract

In the first quarter of the 18th century, due to the stir of the Spanish Sucession War (1701- 1714) and its sequels, which last at least until the Treaty of Vienna (1725), a huge quantity of pieces of work for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language was issued all around Europe. In this article, after a brief account of political history, a tipology of works is offered: non original works (reissues and copies of diferent kinds) and original works (road grammarians, "chamber" grammarians and other original materials). Finally, the main grammatical and extragrammatical features of the corpus are shown: a special development of the syntax section and the interrelationship of works with the political history of the time, which produce the release of textbooks of Spanish as well as it is present in the text of the introductory pieces and in some examples full of propaganda.
