Abstract

Temporomandibular disorders are a complex group of pathologies characterized by a multifactorial aetiology, which supposes an important diagnostic and therapy challenge for the clinician. Its rich etiopathogeny requires a wide and integrated approach, often multidisciplinary, in order to offer our patients the best care. This article is a current review from years 2003 to 2008 about one of the most popular etiological factors in temporomandibular disorders: the psychosocial factors; underlining their potentional to set off, exacerbate or predispose to dysfunction, as well as interfering treatments goals.
