Zusammenfassung

This article analyzes the relationship between urban form and transit ridership. We try to explain the use of the metro stations of Madrid according to its built environment. For this, a direct ridership model is used, based on the combined use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and multiple regression models. The results show the importance of variables such as employment density, diversity of land use and street density in order to explain the number of passengers boarding at each station.
