Resumen
Starting with this working group’s review of specific treatments for children who assault their parents, the meta-analysis of studies on juvenile delinquency and interventions designed for the population of children with behavior problems, we observe the discrepancy between the increase in the phenomenon of child-to-parent violence in our society and the lack of controlled studies of specific treatments. It also appears that these studies suffer from methodological problems and problems to generalize the results to natural settings. This leads to their inability to provide empirical support to the psychological treatments to which they refer. We therefore reinstitute solutions already proposed in the previous literature review, also proposing an integrative response, the Program for Teenagers who have Assaulted their Parents (PAP), a rigorous protocol of treatment and interventions with a multi-modal structure. It includes working at the family level and is based on the basic principles of individualization and motivation of patients. The PAP is revealed as a specific treatment option and is valid in the field of child-to-parent violence.
