Abstract

This study presents the features and results of the use of a pedagogical methodology based on a problem-solving collaborative mobile videogame for 8th graders science curriculum. The methodology included pre-classroom activities with teachers, classroom learning activities, and a central activity using an interactive videogame for a mobile device. The evaluation study was focused on software usability and the results obtained in the learners performance in problem solving skills after the applying this methodology. Usability results show a high level of users satisfaction with the videogame used getting them fully engaged and motivated in solving the learning task. Evidence also indicates that this science learning experience with the support of a videogame contributed effectively to the development of the learners problem-solving skills.
