Resum

Rosa Chacel: language of exile from Rio de Janeiro. The Spanish writer Rosa Chacel (1898-1994) has in common with many other artists of her generation the fact of having suffered exile. Not that in common has she the destiny she went to. Meanwhile many crossed the frontier towards France and many others the ocean towards Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico or Argentina, Chacel settled in Portuguese-speaking Brazil. The main aim of this article is to look over her long stay in Rio de Janeiro, her personal and social relationships and her literary production in this period of time, reflected mainly in her diaries - published afterwards into two books under the titles Alcancía. Ida and Alcancía. Vuelta. Besides, the topic of Rosa Chacel will serve to introduce a brief reflection on a question that is if exile could be considered or not a language itself within artistic language, shaping that way, a "language of exile"
