Abstract

Margaret of Austria, queen consort of Philip III of Spain, bequeathed an important library over 350 volumes at her death in 1611. Its study allows to increase the knowledge of the queen. The historiographical gap that 17 th century actually is at the historical series of queenly Hispanic libraries is also partially filled by this way. Her royal library is dominated by clear profiles of Counter Reformation confessionalism, but, besides its devoted condition, it also reveals other facets of the Spanish queen at the court, especially how some of the most important topics of the government of the Monarchy entered the palatial spaces under the form of books for her majesty the Queen.
