Resumen

En el actual contexto socioeconómico, buena parte del logro del éxito empresarial se debe a los esfuerzos continuados que hace la empresa en el ámbito de la innovación tecnológica. Dichos esfuerzos son el fruto de una acción conjunta de todos o la mayoría de los miembros y unidades organizativas de una empresa, así como de las relaciones que ésta puede desarrollar en el tiempo con sus clientes, aliados, proveedores, etc. En este sentido, y desde la perspectiva de la innovación abierta, se configuran el capital social y el capital relacional de una organización como factores clave para el logro de la innovación tecnológica y, por consiguiente, del éxito empresarial. De manera que, a partir de tales argumentos, y desde el Enfoque del Capital Intelectual, para una muestra de 251 empresas, la presente investigación trata de ofrecer evidencia empírica sobre la influencia que pueden tener ambos capitales sobre la innovación de producto y de proceso. Los resultados reflejan el importante papel que ambos capitales tienen sobre dichos tipos de innovación dentro de los sectores españoles manufactureros intensivos en conocimiento, destacando en mayor medida las relaciones interorganizativas que mantiene la empresa, como ente institucional, con sus clientes y proveedores.
