The results of the analysis of leaching waters, envelope debris from Thiobacillus and inorganic precipitates from ferric solutions with alkalizers are give. These results imply a causal relationship between jarosite precipitation and Thiobacillus. We have established that its cellular envelope a jarosite layer is deposited, probably by action of a Na-K alkaline flux generated by Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and by the presence of fhosfo-sulphatic complexes in the medium. The precipitation of jarosite in poor alkaline waters is incompatible with recent ideas is the demostration of the Thiobacillus biogenetic as precipitating agent of the mineral assemblages geothite-jarosite.
