Resumen

Several types of bioturbation traces have been recognized within sedimentary deposits belonging to the Miocene Lower and Intermediate Units of the Eastern part of the Madrid Basin. The bioturbation traces are developed in muddy, carbonate and gypsiferous deposits that are interpreted as mudflat, ephemeral ponds and brackishto-saline lake facies. The bioturbation traces, whether caused by roots or meiofauna, inform about the depositional paleoenvironment. On the other hand, they influence both depositional and diagenetic fabrics
