Abstract
Since the occurrence of the mega-catastrophes such as Vilma hurricane, the flooding in New Orleans, the tsunami in Japan and others, the insurance sector has been implementing a set of instruments to extend the limits of the insurable risks. The combination of classical techniques such as the reinsurance, with financial instruments of which development is more recent, such as the financial securitization, increases the coverage for some risks that are difficult to insure. This way, insurance industry is aimed to go on innovating trying "to insure the non-insurable risks".
