Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate the effectiveness of the sialoendoscopic technique in the treatment of pathologies of the salivary glands. Design of the study: Observational and retrospective meta-analysis of 1,854 patients on which a sialoendoscopy was performed, obtained from a bibliographic review of ten articles. Results: Greater prevalence of obstructive pathologies was observed in males between 30 and 40 years of age. The most affected gland was the submandibular, with the most frequent pathology being lithiasis. The sialoendoscopy has a success index of 88.5%. Conclusions: The sialoendoscopy emerges as a good alternative to conventional surgery in the treatment of obstructive pathologies of the salivary glands.
