Abstract

This paper reflects a quantitative study of the laws governing Liesegang rings displays appeared in the reaction of phosphoric acid and calcium chloride in silica gel. These rings occur in a more complex pattern than the usual bands formed in Liesegang phenomenon. By applying the time law (MORSE-PIERCE, 1903), we can deduce the role of gel pH and reactives concentration in the behaviour of time constant. We are also trying to point out the possible causes of the differences found between theoretical data and experimental results. Finally, some new mechanisms are suggested in order to explain the particular morphology shown by the rings all through the experiment.
