Resumen

Los trastornos emocionales que persisten como secuelas de los traumatismos craneoencefálicos (T.C.E.) dificultan la integración familiar, social y laboral de estos pacientes, y determinan en gran medida el pronóstico de la rehabilitación. En el presente artículo se destaca la necesidad de procedimientos de evaluación de las alteraciones conductuales más frecuentes en esta población. Se revisan los principales cambios emocionales y de personalidad asociados a los T.C.E. Por último, se comentan algunas dificultades en el proceso rehabilitador, y se ofrece una guía general para el tratamiento de los principales problemas emocionales de estos pacientes.
