Abstract

In this paper we present the results of a plural formation study in which six and eight years old children were involved. The results show that older children perform the task better than the younger, and that the stimuli requiring the allomorph s are better responded than the stimuli requiring es. The data also show that words are better responded than pseudowords. Overall results suggest that phonological processing mediates in the morphological task performed and that the morphological-inflectional ability is not fully mastered at six years old. The data is discussed in the light of previous research carried out in our and other languages.
