El fin del relato europeo. La crisis del proceso de integración y su impacto sobre las narrativas europeas

Resumen

Este artículo analiza desde el punto de vista de la Historia las consecuencias que se derivan de la crisis del proceso de integración europea sobre las narrativas del proyecto europeo. Durante varias generaciones se ha retratado habitualmente a la construcción europea como la historia de un éxito sin precedentes. Sin embargo, ese relato europeo - calificado como un "christmas story" - se considera hoy agotado y algunos de sus ítems principales parecen diluirse en la memoria europea. En consecuencia, no existe una idea del proyecto europeo ni para qué sirve. El proceso de integración y la misma idea de Europa que dice representar si quieren sobrevivir necesitan con urgencia un nuevo relato sin embargo su construcción es compleja en la perspectiva del trabajo del historiador.
