Abstract

The gingival health of 88 hypertensive patients treated with nifedipine was studied. Were analized parameters such as sex, age, dosage and time of treatment, use of dental brush, dental floss and mouth rinses, respiration pattern, plaque and gingival indexes and gingival enlargement. 16 patients showned gingival overgrowth (18,2%). Only there was a statistical correlation between levels of plaque and gingival inflammation and gingival enlargement (p<0.05).
