Abstract

Dental arch form is one the foundations of orthodontic diagnosis. Efforts to adjust dental arch form to a mathematically predetermined curve have been made in different studies. In a sample of 108 digitally dental arches their correspondence with parabolical, eliptic and catenary curves were studied. A comparative study between adjustment to these three curves was made. From our results, Spanish adult dental arch form can be classified as eliptical, because of best fittting to an eliptical shape, followed by a parabolical curve and catenary curve
