Abstract

Objective: Our objective was to quantify the growth of the dental arches while the primary dentition lasts. Materials and Method: We used 303 sets of plaster models belonging to an equal number of male and female children between 2 and 7 years of age in complete primary dentition. We took measurements of their transverse diameters, perimeter and depth of dental arches. Furthermore, the age was reflected in months in order to relate both kinds of parameters statistically. Results: The descriptive statistics proved that the dimensions of the arches were very similar whatever the age. Conclusion: The virtual absence of growth during this period of dentition has been proven.
