Résumé

This essay, stemming from my personal experience, endeavours to present the complex work of contemporary drama translator. First, it deals with the preliminary research lead by the translator in order to discover new texts for the stage and not for publication, as dramatic texts nowadays are mainly conceived and written for the stage. This research process involves also a great deal of casualty and hazard. Then, it shows my personal experience as a translator which began with an experience as an actress and was followed by a university career in drama and literature. Third, it presents the process of drama translation as a horizontal, dramatic work which, once on stage, becomes vertical or dramaturgical, by showing the case study of the translation of Juste la fin du monde (Its only the End of the World) by Jean-Luc Lagarce.
