Resum
This paper analyzes the moderator effect of industry structure on the relationship between R&D capability and the adoption of inbound open innovation strategies. Our primary contribution consists of isolating the effects of R&D capability according to a firms environment. Our hypotheses explore how knowledge intensity, intellectual property rights protection regimes, and firms entering the industry affect the relationship between R&D capability and the adoption of open innovation. We test these hypotheses with a panel of innovative firms (PITEC) containing more than 30.000 observations.
