Abstract
This article examines the initial steps taken by the Committee on Enforced Disappearances and the solution that it has provided concerning one of the key, yet controversial, issues: how to interpret the temporal jurisdiction of the Committee. In doing so, the Committee has also addressed and tried to clarify the scope and temporal application of the obligations under the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
