Abstract
Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is an advanced surface treatment technique for implants based on titanium and its alloys. This anodizing-like process enables simultaneous modification of the surface composition, morphology and topography. The present work describes the characteristics of the PEO coatings generated on titanium of commercial grades I, IV and V and some of the aspects of their bioactivity and corrosion resistance in vitro.
