Abstract

Introduction: Impacted mandibular second molar is an uncommon pathology, its code is prevalent in 0.03%. It is more prevalent in men, having a unilateral nature and with a higher frequency in jaw than in maxillary. Aims: The present paper describes a surgical uprighting of an impacted mandibular second molar and the different therapeutic options that exist to treat this kind of pathology. Case report: We introduce a case report of a fourteen year old male patient refered to the Oral Surgery Service of Hospital Virgen de la Paloma from Madrid by his orthodoncist after recognizing lower right second molar impaction. After evaluation the different therapeutic options, we decided to perform second molar uprighting by carrying out the extraction of the third molar in the same surgery. Conclusions: It is important to make an early diagnosis to perform the treatment while radicular development is not finished and apexes are still open.
