Abstract
The dentigerous cysts are common and they appear associated with impacted teeth. Being the lower third molar the tooth that suffers retention more commonly, the location is mandibular in 70 % of cases and they are usually asymptomatic. A case of a 63 year old woman who came to the dental office with right mandibular anesthesia is reported. Radiographic evaluation revealed lesions compatible with dentigerous cyst so the extraction of third molars and cystectomy were performed. The literature is reviewed to know the most important features of these cysts such as etiology, clinical symptoms and most appropriate treatment as well as diagnostic methods and treatment alternatives for disorders of the inferior alveolar nerve.
