Résumé

This article deals with the last years of Blas de Prado’s life on the basis of several unpublished documents that have thrown light over the circumstances of that period. It reveals not only the multifacetic personality of the artist, but the fact that his career was soon focused on Madrid as the center of the Royal Court and the origin of the most significant contracts, included the one signed together with Alonso Vallejo for the altar piece of the Chapel of Cardinal Quiroga in Madrigal. The appendix to the article contains the documents of 1599 and afterwards which deal with the artist’s life.
