Abstract
Conventional radiographs represent 2-D images of 3-D objects with significant structure superimposition and unpredictable magnification. Computed tomography (CT) allows true 3-D visualization of dentoalveolar and osseous structures, cone beam CT (CBCT) delivers lower radiation than convencional CT. The aim of this article is discuss the clinical applications in dental and orofacial diagnosis and treatment planning and to compare CBCT with other imagen techniques in doing those tasks.
