Résumé
Today many spaces show that far from political borders disappearing or globalization being inevitably a homogeneous phenomenon, different, contradictory social and cultural processes are taking place in different parts of the planet. Border areas are particularly good places for understanding some of these scenarios. This article makes a series of contributions about this issue based on the analysis of the main topics sustaining the discourse of political representatives operating in the city of Posadas, in Misiones, Argentina, across the border from Encarnación, Itapua, Paraguay, when they talk about Paraguayan workers who cross the international border and the process of regional integration called Mercosur.
