Abstract
Possibly, the most ancient question in scientific literature about family relationships is the distinction between happy and satisfied couples and families and unhappy or unsatisfied families. The purpose of the present study was to examine the relations between the marital satisfaction and the interaction between parents and children across the educational style, inside the frame of the family functioning. Departing from the Systemic Model, the Olson Circumplex Model and the different educational styles, an exploratory correlational investigation is presented, with an incidental sample of 390 people who belong to 130 families of the Region of Madrid. The sample is composed in all cases by members of the marital and parental subsystems of every family. The instruments that are used to carry out the study are three: Family Adaptability and Cohesión Scale FACES III; Marital Satisfaction Inventory-Revised MSI; and Scale of Styles of Socialization in Adolescence ESPA 29. Descriptive, correlation, differentials and multivariant analyses are carried out, by means of which two results purposes are concluded: The acceptance of the hypothesis of an association between the familiar dynamics, the marital satisfaction and the parental relationship on one hand and significant differences results between parents and children on the other.
