Abstract
El aumento de la prevalencia de la miopía y su relación con las complicaciones oculares hace que se haya convertido en un tema de salud pública destacado e incluso de interés general. La miopía no es solo un defecto refractivo sino que es una condición ocular compleja, multifactorial, que provoca importantes costes económicos y sociales. Este cambio de paradigma ha propiciado el aumento exponencial de publicaciones relacionadas con el control de su progresión. Las revisiones sistemáticas y los meta-análisis tienen como objetivo seleccionar con rigor todos los trabajos relacionados con el tema, unificarlos de forma sistemática y analizar y sintetizar sus resultados, proporcionando así a los profesionales de la salud la mejor evidencia científica resumida sobre los métodos de intervención posibles. De esta manera, podremos usar esta información, junto con nuestra experiencia y juicio clínico, en la toma de decisiones de nuestros pacientes miopes.
