Abstract

The present paper aims to shed some more light on the so- called firm’s dynamic capabilities by analysing this phenomenon from the lens of organizational learning. Scholarship has highlighted a key role of learning in the process of reconfiguring organizational capabilities. However, the distinct learning-based approaches with implications on dynamic capabilities, such as exploration-exploitation, absorptive capacity, open search, or combinative capabilities, have evolved almost independently in the literature. Aimed at alleviating this theoretical isolation, the paper offers an integrative view based on the complementarities among these approaches that may serve as a guide for future research in the field.
