Resumen

This article talks about the origins of Social Work until the end of the third decade of the twentieth century, delving into the role exercised in its evolution and development the Charity Organization Society and the Settlement Movement, the change in their orientation in the United States in the first decade of the twentieth century, and their expansion related to the proliferation of schools of Social Services. In this sense, we will describe the origin and organization of two pioneering schools in their respective geographical regions: the Berlin school in Central Europe and the Santiago de Chile'school in Latin America.
