Abstract

223 cephalometric drawings were obtained from adult individuals. Maxillary parameters were SNA and Co-A distance. Mandibular measures were SNB, N-Pg/FH, DC/Xi/Pg, Go, Go-Gn and Pt-Gn/Ba-Na. Maxillary-mandibular relationship was measured by ANB angle, convexity and Witts. Facial type identification was made with SN/PM and anterior-posterior facial height proportion (Jarabak index). The outcomes showed significative differences in all parameters except for Witts. Maxillary appeared advanced and bigger in brachiofacial group. SNB angle, mandibular arch and facial axis were increased in brachiofacial group, whereas goniac angle was decreased in dolichofacial group. ANB angle showed no significative differences between mesofacial and dolichofacial groups. Nevertheless it seems that a reduced ANB angle, defines brachiofacial type.
