Resumen

The aim of this study is to obtain cephalometric standards in an adult Spanish population selected by random with no ideal criteria. The sample consisted on 300 lateral teleradiographs, 180 taken in males and 120 in females. Two cranial base parameters were measured as well as 2 parameters in the upper jaw, 6 in the lower jaw and 3 concerning the upper and lower jaw relationship. From 13 measurements obtained, 4 were lineal values and the rest of them angular ones. Applying descriptive statistics, cephalometric norms were obtained. Some differences were founded in relation to other authors and different populations. These differences justify the convenience of not to mixture values from different populations or etnical groups.
