Resum

A study of 105 patients in Segovia is made describing clinical parameters such as oral hygiene, absence of teeth, gingival inflamation, reccesion, bleeding, tooth movement, probing and presente of furcas. It was found that 59 to 70 % of the population never brushes its teeth; only 10 have all their teeth; 38% of the patients manifested reccesion; 26 showed gingival inflamation; bleeding appeared in 24 cases; pockets greater than 3 mm were found in 43% of the patients. In view of the results, the authors wish to point out that, there is a need to establish oral hygiene education programs in order to reduce the high incidence of tooth loss due to periodontitis.
