Résumé
Starting with an ethno-historical approach, this paper focuses on the extraordinary diversity of religious hypotheses and stories about cosmogenesis. The religious point of view is currently present in contemporary fiction as well as in scientific discussions on “intelligent design” and the “anthropic cosmological principle”. The distinctive feature of religious perspective is compared with the scientific point of view and, after that, we explore the most typical motifs of religious cosmogonies to analyze their meaning, pointing out their relevance in current debates.
