Abstract

The present work carries out a study of various aspects of archaic Roman criminal law. In this sense, we analyze the characteristics of primitive criminal repression and the various signs of evolution that can be observed already at such early stages. The study also examines the evolutionary process that underwent criminal law from its regal origins to the first republican period, with a special focus on the analysis of magical-religious influence in criminal law and the first indications of secularization of the repressive system.
