Résumé

Abstract The diagnosis of chronic venous disease mainly is based on clinical findings and symptoms. In doubtful cases, non-response to treatment, or surgical approach (but not strictly for diagnosis), the use of noninvasive tests are indicated, mainly Duplex ultrasound. Plethysmography quantitatively measures the intensity of chronic venous disease and is used for the development of clinical trials. The invasive tests as phlebography, Angio-CT and Angio- MR have limited the indications to compressive syndromes and doubtful or anatomically complex cases. Technological advances has allowed implement explorations that are still developing their indications and usefulness as the intravascular ultrasound.
