Abstract
Seventeenth-century burlesque poetry was also implied in religious matters but it had to keep a difficult expressive balance in order not to fall into lack of reverence or to appeal official censorship. As an example, this work deals with a controversial letter caused by a burlesque poem written by Juan de Ibaso at a contest in Granada. The letters show discrepancies in sensibility or different ways of tolerance in this kind of poetry even among those who accepted its legitimacy
